Analyze setting and/or character in the story A Case Of Identity by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle to an argument about how those elements give you insight into the story’s meaning. Note that I have not identified the theme or topic for that meaning; you will need to define and articulate it in your thesis. In other words, I have given you the starting point (i.e., examine at character or setting), but your paper needs to create the endpoint, the “so what?” (i.e., the thesis, which builds from evidence to analysis to insight).

Guidelines

Your 3-5 page paper is due  **No late papers will be accepted.**

Your paper should have 1” margins, use 12-point Times New Roman font, and be double-spaced. Be sure to include your name, date, class, and title for your paper.

Be sure to MLA citations. As I mentioned when we reviewed MLA citations in class, Purdue’s Online Writing Lab (OWL) has a good citation guide.

In addition to your compliance with the format described above, your paper will be graded on the elements that have been used to grade your reading responses and in-class writings: the sophistication and lucidity of your argument/thesis; your support thereof with textual evidence and analysis (particularly your ability to use close reading); the quality of your writing (syntax, grammar, clarity); and the structure and organization of your paper
